Some elements of this text to consider:
- From the title of the book one might expect writing that is dense, difficult, uses mathematical and technical terms, etc. However, this particular chapter is focused on “Fear, Greed, and Cognitive Illusions” which to some extent does explain the writing style in this extract. Other chapters in the book are far more challenging and fit more in line with expectations based on the title of the book.
- The author uses a personal anecdote to explain how even a mathematician can be influenced to make a poor stock purchase.
