Text: Japan Meteorological Agency. “Tropical Cyclone Information.” https://www.jma.go.jp/bosai/map.html#4/39.504/131.353/&elem=root&typhoon=all&contents=typhoon&lang=en
Some elements of this text to consider:
- The image from the Japan Meteorological Agency website provides very little information in some respects – countries and bodies of water are not named. Japan’s prefectural borders are marked, however.
- The lack of country (and other labels) prevents unnecessary clutter and might also indicate that the intended audience is people who can tell from the image alone where Japan, Korea, China etc. are located.
- The predicted path of the tropical cyclone (i.e. typhoon) uses different colors for different purposes. White indicates the projected path while yellow and red highlight levels of danger in the affected areas.
