Some elements of this text to consider:
- The extremely powerful image in the centre of the poster shows an exhausted soldier on the brink of defeat / death. Note all of details in the image that convey the grave situation that the solder is in (e.g. the ripped uniform, the large number of bullet casings). The poster is portraying the desperate situation in extremely harsh / grave terms to implore the audience to take action.
- The poster is aimed at Americans who are not directly involved in the war; the poster is trying to get people to accept positions where they “most needed” – presumably in jobs that will help the war effort. The poster is trying to draw a direct line between someone’s choice in job in the U.S. and the situation that American soldiers are facing in the Pacific theater.
