Before you read the “spoiler” bullet points below take a careful look at the text. Imagine it is a text you are using for one of your DP Language A Language and Literature assessments: the individual oral, the HL essay, or Paper 1 and analyze it accordingly. (This text would not be appropriate for Paper 2).
Some elements of the text to consider:
- The use of the second person “you” in the text on the top left which gives it a slight persuasive tone that is not found in most diagrams
- The use of the second person “you” gives an indication of the audience of the text
- The key in the top left of the diagram
- The use of perspective
- The use of color
- The use of labels and dotted lines
- The use of bullet points, capitalization, and larger font to highlight more important elements of the diagram
- The use of arrows to indicate movement
